Privacy Policy

Information I collect

I only collect information you choose to send me, plus basic technical data needed to deliver the site:

• Messages you email me, including your name, email address and project details.
• Answers you submit through my “Get matched” form, which is hosted by Google Forms.
• If you fill in my course feedback form, also hosted by Google Forms: your email address, your answers and, if you give them, your name or Instagram handle.
• If you buy a course: your name, email address, what you bought, what you paid and whether it was refunded. The checkout is run by Polar, which sells the course as the merchant of record (an older checkout link still goes to Flodesk’s), and this site keeps a copy of these details so it can give you access.
• If you sign in to a course: your email address and sign-in details, handled by Clerk, the sign-in service.
• Standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type and pages requested) kept by my hosting provider, Cloudflare, for security and reliability.

How I use it

I use your information to respond to your inquiry, introduce you to designers you asked to be matched with, give course buyers access to what they bought, improve my courses from the feedback buyers send, and keep the site secure. I do not sell or rent personal information, and I do not use it for advertising.

Cookies and analytics

Browsing this site sets no cookies. The one exception is signing in to a course: the sign-in page and the course pages behind it use cookies from Clerk, the sign-in service, to keep you signed in. They are needed for signing in to work, and are not used for advertising or to track you.

Aggregate visitor statistics are collected with Cloudflare Web Analytics and Umami, neither of which uses cookies or tracks you across sites. They record which pages are visited, where visitors came from, how far down the free color lesson people read and how long they stay on it, and which buttons are pressed, never who you are.

Third-party services

The site is hosted by Cloudflare, which also stores course buyers’ access records and sends the order confirmation email. Courses are sold through Polar, which runs the checkout as the merchant of record, takes the payment and sends your receipt; anyone buying through an older Flodesk checkout link pays through Flodesk instead. Course buyers’ names and email addresses are added to a buyers’ list in Flodesk, my email service, so I can email you about what you bought. Signing in is handled by Clerk. The “Get matched” form and the course feedback form are provided by Google. Links to my createwithalena accounts on Instagram and YouTube, and to my TikTok and LinkedIn profiles, take you to those platforms, whose own privacy policies apply.

Sharing

If you ask to be matched with other designers, I share the project details you submitted with the three or four designers I introduce you to. If you fill in the course feedback form and say I can share what you wrote, I may quote it with your name, your Instagram handle or anonymously, as you chose. If you buy a course, your details go to the services named above (Polar, Flodesk, Clerk and Cloudflare) only so they can sell you the course, give you access and email you about it. Otherwise I only disclose information where required by law.

Retention and your rights

I keep correspondence only as long as needed to handle your inquiry and any resulting work, and course buyers’ order and access records (what’s listed above under buying a course) as long as they’re needed to give you access and keep track of refunds. I keep course feedback answers for up to six months, except what you’ve said I may quote, which I keep as long as I use it. You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information I hold about you by emailing alena@asongstudio.com.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date.
